Dr.Web releases an updated decoding utility for victims of Trojan.Encoder.6

June 2, 2006

Doctor Web, Ltd. – a Russian anti-virus developer - released an updated version of a special decoding utility for files encoded by Trojan.Encoder.6

As the Trojan’s author uses much longer encryption keys of 260 bits, this makes the process of decoding much more difficult. The updated utility released by the anti-virus Lab of Doctor Web, ltd. allows to decode files, encrypted using various encryption keys.

To use the utility you should do the following:

1.Enter the command line mode (press "Start" - Run - cmd)
2.Go to the directory with files to be decrypted
3.Copy the decoding utility te_decrypt.exe to the same directory
4.Run the command line instruction te_decrypt.exe [name _ of _ decryption _ file] [Enter]

If the files were encrypted with one of supported keys, they will be decrypted and the resulting filel will have a ".decr" extension.

Due to the high level of danger of this Trojan.Encoder variant Doctor Web, Ltd. warns all users to be very cautious with mail messages incoming from unknown addressees.
