Another VB100% award for Dr.Web Anti-virus under MS WIndows XP

Doctor Web, Ltd. announces achievement of one more VB100% in the comparative review held in June by Virus Bulletin under Windows XP.

Dr.Web Anti-virus scanner has detected 100% of viruses in all collections (traditionally, these are ItW viruses, those which can be found in computers of users, macro viruses, standard viruses and polymorphic viruses). During the review, SpIDer Guard has missed 3 viruses from Standard collection which were in the archived files.

"Our users should not worry about Dr.Web missing these samples," – says Igor Daniloff, the author of Dr.Web Anti-virus, commenting the results of the June comparative review by Virus Bulletin. "Dr.Web anti-virus detects these viruses and their signature have long been included into virus bases. But the on-access scanner - SpIDer Guard - traditionally does not detect 2-3 virus samples in Virus Bulletin reviews under Microsoft Windows in standard collections, as they are inside archives. This is because of Dr.Web's principle of checking archives by resident guard. SpIDer Guard monitor is sent to Virus Bulletin testers with "by default" settings, and these settings do not stipulate check of archives during their on-acces scanning. Thus we spare computer resources when scanning archives without any decrease of anti-virus security level."
